Dear comrades,

The Workers Party of Ireland sends warm comradely greetings, solidarity and best wishes to the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) on the occasion of the XXI Congress to be held in Athens on 24-27 June 2021.

Throughout its history the KKE, from its support for the first workers’ state which resulted from the Great October Socialist Revolution to its unrelenting and continuing struggle against the dictatorship of capital, established itself firmly as a party of militant action, with deep roots in the working class and the popular strata.

The KKE has consistently and courageously fought with strength and determination against attacks by capital on the Greek people and, through detailed analysis based on a firm ideological foundation and its commitment to mass political work, has demonstrated the vitality of class struggle and the necessity for a strong, steadfast and principled party. The KKE has operated in conditions of war, dictatorship and repression, playing the leading role in the struggle against the dictatorship.

Capitalism is inherently and irredeemably flawed. It cannot be reformed. By its very nature it is exploitative, oppressive and rotten. Capitalist crises expose the basic contradiction between the social character of production and the capitalist ownership of the means of production and the appropriation of its results. The pandemic has further revealed the contradictions and failings of capitalism which have exacerbated the effects of this crisis and which demonstrated that capitalism cannot meet the needs of the people or solve their problems. The KKE has been to the forefront in exposing these contradictions and has played a vital role in unmasking those forces which foster and spread reformist illusions to the detriment of revolutionary class politics.

The Communist Party of Greece has always been a party of proletarian internationalism engaging in concrete acts of international solidarity in fierce opposition to imperialism, imperialist war and aggression.  In the aftermath of the counter-revolution when many parties faltered and changed direction, the KKE took important steps to evaluate the situation and was instrumental in initiating the regrouping of the international communist movement, an important historic achievement for which the movement owes a deep debt of gratitude. Through its work in the European Communist Initiative the KKE has rendered invaluable assistance to communist and workers’ parties in facilitating the process of research, discussion and the elaboration of joint positions of the parties and the coordination of their solidarity and other activities.

The KKE has shown that a revolutionary party needs a revolutionary strategy based on a correct and coherent ideology, Marxism-Leninism. The historic role of the working class as a revolutionary class, as the force of social liberation, can only be fulfilled through its organisation as a class for itself.

The Workers Party of Ireland is confident that the discussions of the three Texts of the Thesis will enhance and strengthen the distinctive ideological-political role of the KKE and its struggle for working-class power, for socialism-communism. We salute the militants and supporters of the KKE and KNE. We wish you success in your deliberations at the 21st Congress. We assure you of our continuing solidarity, fraternal friendship and best wishes.

Long live the KKE!

Long live Marxism-Leninism!

Long live proletarian internationalism!

With sincere comradely greetings,
